Day Dreamer
Within your ancient eyes the world is held;
Time etched within memories;
Echoes recalling a past that momentarily yields;
Eyes glaze over as you recount the stories
Of loss, pain, and happiness.
The creases in your skin conceal
What was once the uncontested beauty of youth;
Gone are the days of dancing and glamour;
Filled with history and lessons of the heart that now soothe;
For here are days held in the waning sunlight;
Each a challenge and a test of will and insight.
The soul continues ever growing,even as life begins to still;
The day dream ends as the past memories stop flowing;
Suddenly realizing you are once again here.
