Fixing the Fragments
Betrayal and rejection are all I've ever known
There was no one I could trust
Because there was no affection shown
All their intentions were driven by lust.
Despite this I find myself falling for you.
I promised myself it wouldn't happen again
But still I say, "I love you too,"
I try to fight it but know I can't win
Because when you hold me close
I forget all the pain and all the tears
And even forgive the ones who hurt me the most.
A look into your eyes banishes all my fears.
So now every night I lay down and pray
That maybe this time it will last
And that you'll lead me to the day
When I am healed from the torments of the past.
