I'll Make Freedom Mine
It’s all your fault
You’re the reason I cry
Even though I tried so hard
Even though I warned my self
I ignored the voice of my heart
And now I ignore its cries of pain
Your dungeon is what keeps me down
My modesty keeps the tears in place
I keep a smile for a smile
But the everlasting frown stays
And in the time you had me caged
My dreams of freedom always fade
But now I know that ropes can burn
I somehow feel your chains will break
And the day I make freedom mine
I’ll say “yesterday, I left you behind:”
