If Only...

I wish we could

See past our unforseen future,

To unravel the enigma

Of our unknown destiny –

Maybe then we could

Promise each other happiness

In full,

Of our lives intertwined

In the bliss we purport to have.

If only we knew

What lay beyond the next step,

Maybe we could be cautious

Not to fall into that unforeseen abyss ,

Or take the battered road

That’s leads to the nothingness,

Lurking beyond oblivion.

If only we could see

The troubles that lay ahead

We could somewhat prepare

In earnest,

The subtle tears

And moments of rage

That seem to hover

Round the uncertainty of tomorrow.

If only we were sure

That we’d always be by the other’s side,

Maybe this apprehension

Would like the misty fog,

Encompassed by the new day; clear,

Dawning the rays of our new life –

If only……
