My people
My people have been in a depression
All of my ancestors
had to face their oppressors
no one even cares
but it's our time
our time to shine
to let everyone know
we have not forgotten
the times he made us cry
even though we tried to run
keyword tried
he broke some of us
some of us wouldn't budge
he was our ruler
our judge
niggers, negros, and jiggaboos
he called us those names too
but one day a young woman
gave me the strength of wisdom
she told me my only way out was my only way through
