Silence Speaks
A son turns to his father one day,
with his face all filled with joy
hesitant yet smiling he says,
‘Can I buy that toy?’
The father doesn't speak a word
but his silence says it all:
he looks into his eyes as if to say
‘Now you are not that small’.
‘You are no that small’,
says the father in his mind
the child had no other choice but to
forget the toy towards which he was so inclined.
The boy was so cheerful then
and had held his excitement somehow,
but what the voice of silence said to him,
made him feel low and sad now.
‘No more discussion on this’
says the father’s eyes
‘ Tis time to be friendly with books,
in which your future lies’.
The boy who had so many hopes,
were shattered in this short span
he then tries to hold back his tears
as long as he can.
Both feel a bit guilty now
and want something so say,
but the son’s fear and the father’s ego,
stand in the way.
Feeling that the idea of sitting together
was not a very good one,
they eventually fall apart,
thus ending the silent conversation.
After the long dark night,
comes the bright morning at last
to make them forget all the sorrows
and the sad memories of the past.
They would become friends again,
and would always hug and kiss
until they came across,
another day like this.
