Tonight
Why tonight do I see you in my dreams,
again.
Like the moment our eyes last gazed,
my heart pounds with wonder.
The tides of time have run their course
And yet you remain,
vivid
On this frost bitten winter night,
your warmth encompasses the vastness of my unconscious being
This is dishonest to my heart
How can you be here?
Why?
tonight
Still, you are with me
Your hands soft and tempting,
Your eyes stare,
Intimately and resplendent
I touch the lavender that is your skin
and remember
But I have no recollection of this place,
of these trees that make the sun’s light
shine brilliant upon your gaze.
It matters little
Through the uncertainty and unfamiliarity
I see only you,
tonight
Never do we embrace,
nor kiss, nor speak
But it is enough
My heart, though confused, is content
Deep within my soul
You burn with affection.
I need this warmth and tenderness,
tonight
