While you sleep
As I lay here, in our bed
Happy, as one man can be.
Holding you while you sleep,
You place your head upon my chest.
As I lay and watch you sleep,
I drift off and start to ponder,
I face the bitter truth,
you will never be mine.
All I have is this moment,
I live for the time I spend with you
As the clock ticks on,
I fall deeper, consumed by you.
I have all the feelings inside,
to take the next step.
But, no matter what I do or say,
nothing will change between us.
When you wake, you will have no idea,
of all the thoughts I have for you,
all my hopes, all my dreams.
Who am I to change the fact,
that you belong to someone else.
